The Development Shift
Hello everyone! It's been quite some time since I've done a more formal announcement/discussion like this, but I believe it's warranted. I've gotten a ton of feedback and I want to stick to my promise to do better and fix a lot of the gripes and issues people have with the current builds. So I figured first thing first, would be talking about the move from my in house toolset FF4 to FF5. What are those you might ask? Well FF or Furry Framework is a custom set of tools made in unreal engine to support 2d characters moving in a 3d world. When I originally started development in ue4 I learned the hard way that it wasn't an engine built with 2d in mind, so a set of tools had to be made so I could work efficiently and get some done in a timely manner, and for a while it worked.
Starting with the original Furry Framework toolset I had very stable and playable builds right up until Furry Framework 4 which everyone who's played any 1.2 or 1.3 builds know is a very unstable and volatile. It was never my intention to put out something really shoddy and for that I'm apologizing today. I should've waiting until FF5 was ready and not jumped the gun so quickly, but I digress, what's done is done . . . Though it's not all doom and gloom! The good thing is the game is still chugging along and I'm making improvements to the back end structure as I type! Lots of staple features that you'd expect from a rpg in this style are in the works and should be ready for a demo in two weeks! Which leads me to my next point! Tails From Alteria is going to Kickstarter!!
Well most knew this already, but for the new people joining us, the game will be launching either end of this month or early December! Well that's a tentative timeline, the campaign launch depends on the progress of Furry Framework 5 and as soon as it's done I can put out a demo to coincide with the campaign. We're well on our way and boy howdy has it been a journey! The screenshots you're seeing are from F.F. 1 and 2 respectively over a year ago! Back then we couldn't even decide on the art style for Jeeve and Jayla haha! One was paper looking, the other was thin lined and more traditionally drawn. Maybe one day I'll go back and toy with that idea further . . . Anyhoo thanks for stopping by and reading my devlog! There is a new build out, but it cuts combat mode entirely annd shrinks the file size a bit. Working on some optimization tricks and whatnot, always good to learn! You never know when you'll have to move your project over to another platform hehehe. Well that's all for now! Ciao!
